Fashion for Good-World of Waste Webinar
Textile waste data has been living in fragments.
Different studies. Different scopes. Different assumptions.
Hard to compare. Even harder to turn into action.
World of Waste changes that.
Developed by Fashion for Good and its partners, the tool brings textile waste data together in one free, open, country-level map. Not to claim perfection, but to create shared visibility.
The Denim Deal is proud to showcase this tool and the role it can play in making waste flows more visible, comparable, and usable across regions.
What you will learn
What the platform already covers:
• 20+ countries captured
• 14 countries mapped in depth
• 28.5 million tonnes of textile waste logged, around one third of estimated global waste per year
A few insights jump out immediately:
• Cotton and cotton-rich waste shows up more than production mixes would suggest
• The US and India lead in total volumes, with the US clearly spiking on a per-capita basis
Each country page brings context, not just numbers:
• Pre- and post-consumer splits where available
• Material composition breakdowns
• Linked projects and methodologies, right next to the data
• Production clusters, infrastructure signals, regulations, and waste cost data where available
